Producer Michael Duke, aka SimGuruDuke, shared a roadmap previewing what fans can expect within the next half-year and confirmed that there will be both a new Expansion Pack and Game Pack.
The community-voted Stuff Pack – which features an Arts & Crafts theme and a focus on knitting – will also be released, with the final round of voting coming later this month to decide the pack name and icon.
Duke didn't reveal specific details for the two bigger packs but offered some interesting teases, suggesting that the Expansion Pack will have a 'surprising' theme and the Game Pack will be something never seen before in the franchise.
"In addition to the Stuff Pack, we are also hard at work on our next Expansion Pack," he wrote. "I'm super excited about the theme the team has chosen – I think it will be a surprise to many of you.
"Another group on our team is currently focused on our next Game Pack. This pack is a major first for us, and we are super eager to share it with all of you later this year."
In addition to all of this, Duke confirmed that "some new surprise additions" will be hitting the game in the summer.
"They are not massive changes, but they are pretty cool ones that I think you will have a ton of fun with," he said.
Last year, the game added customisable stairs, Muslim-inspired clothing and hijabs, and Pride-themed content as part of its free updates. Discover University and Realm of Magic were the most recent Expansion and Game Packs respectively.
So far in 2020, EA and Maxis have released the popular Tiny Living Stuff Pack.
Digital Spy ran a poll earlier this year asking players what themes they would love to see in 2020. Hotels, school life, more diverse worlds, and farming came top.
